The Toyota LandCruiser Prado has been iconically loved by Australians since 1996. Its duality between tackling the challenges of some heavy off roading tracks and fitting the comfortability of the hustle-and-bustle in everyday life, gave it a memorable name for all Aussies. The Toyota Landcruiser Prado’s evolution over 8 generations has brought the current 2020 Prado to the market gaining as much attention as ever!

Join us on a trip down Prado Memory Lane…

1. Prado 1996

The first Prado Toyota produced was around for 5 years before getting its next upgrade. This model filled the gap in the market at the time that was between rugged 4x4s with bone-shaking chassis, and comfortable vehicles with zero off-roading capabilities. It was big, it was bulky, but it was what everyone wanted, the new Prado! It may not have had apple car play or the bells and whistles like the current model, however, the standard stereo and air-con surely caught the eye of potential owners!

2. Prado 120 Series 2003

Next up the 120 Series is available in 3 and 5-door variants. The 120 Series packed upgrades to the Prado range. The front bumper changed from metallic to plastic, the headlights changed shape, changing the overall aesthetic of the car, side steps were included and flares were also added to boost its rugged looks and to accommodate for bigger tyres.

3. Prado 150 Series 2009

The evolution into the 150 Series Prado in 2009 for 3 and 5-door variants, boasted rugged elegance. Aesthetic's played big in this generation of the Prado offering an attractive chrome grill. The tech upgrade in the 150 Series was also quite prominent with the optional bigger colour screen as opposed to the standard LCD screen and the information regarding eco-tips and fuel consumption!

4. Prado 150 Series 2013

The 2009-2013 Prado model also offered 3 and 5-door variants and minimal changes. With the previous 120 Series being loved by its owners and avid 4x4 participants alike, Toyota made it its mission to provide the people with what they loved and to only make minimal changes to the new model. Therefore, changes were made in mainly its appearance including a bigger and bolder grille, refacing of headlights and also an internal refresh with an entirely new dashboard and infotainment system.

5. Prado 150 Series 2017

The 150 Series after 8 years took on a new level. Again, the Prado was a vehicle that was trusted and loved by Aussies, the value spoke for itself! To avoid disappointing those prominent customers, Toyota kept the vehicle much the same apart from some new tech upgrades to keep up with the changing times! The 2017 model brought a refreshed grille design, optional front and passenger heated and ventilated seats and an 8” colour multimedia screen.

6. Prado 2020-Current

Last but not least is our current model! This current model has gone through significant upgrades, introducing Apple Car Play and Android Auto standard in every variant (my personal favourite perk about the Prado)! Smart entry and smart start systems have been implemented to make the vehicle much more accessible for the day-to-day driver, alongside its dual climate control allowing for the back seat and front seat drivers to choose comfort in their air-con temperature! These are only a few of the many features the current model has to offer!
