Getting our hands dirty for Tree Day
At Sunshine Toyota, we are very proud of Toyota's sponsorship of National Tree Day and many of our team volunteer and plant trees each year in our local community. It is a family day out and not only does it set a great example about sustainability and the environment, but the kids love it too.
This year we strengthened our bond with Talara Primary College and assisted the students with planting native trees in their school. We recognised a few of the students from last year- who we helped plant fruit trees in their new, specially designed, orchard. We were also pleased to see how well those fruit trees were doing! It is always great to spend time at Talara, as they are an environmentally-friendly school and always looking to learn more. They have a club called TEAK (Talara's Environmentally Aware Kids) who meet weekly to discuss the environment and how they can positively impact it.
We also headed over to The Currimundi Special School this year and spent the morning planting native trees and shrubs (very generously donated by the Mooloolah Native Nursery) with about 20 of their students, which was such a special experience. We were delighted by how excited and enthusiastic the kids were to be involved with us planting trees. It is such a beautiful school grounds and the kids were really proud to show us around. We have made some firm friends and are looking forward to catching up with them again.
It has been another successful National Tree Day and we can't recommend getting involved enough. It is such a great initiative that benefits the broader community.
