Exciting news for truck enthusiasts! The highly anticipated Toyota Tundra is officially coming to Australia, with sales set to kick off in November 2024. This announcement follows Toyota Motor Corporation Japan’s final approval of a unique local re-engineering project, marking a groundbreaking moment in Toyota’s history.

To bring the Tundra to Aussie roads, Toyota Australia teamed up with the renowned Walkinshaw Automotive Group to convert the US-built Tundra from left-hand drive to right-hand drive.

This collaboration takes place at Walkinshaw’s Melbourne manufacturing facility and is the first time Toyota has partnered with a third-party organization for such a significant project anywhere in the world. It’s the result of six years of meticulous development, ensuring the Tundra meets Toyota’s global standards for quality, durability, and reliability.

Sean Hanley, Toyota Australia’s Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations, emphasized that this isn’t just a standard conversion. The Tundra has been completely re-engineered, with many parts sourced from other Toyota vehicles like the LandCruiser 300 Series, guaranteeing top-notch quality.

This was made possible thanks to the collaboration with Walkinshaw, Toyota North America, and hundreds of Tundra Insider Program participants who tested the vehicle in real-world conditions.

When it launches, the Tundra will debut in the Limited grade, with an even more luxurious Australian-exclusive version set to follow in Q2 2025. Both models will be built on the proven TNGA-F platform, the same foundation as the LandCruiser 300 Series, and will feature a powerful 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 i-FORCE MAX powertrain, offering an impressive 326kW of power and 790Nm of torque.

The Limited grade Tundra comes fully equipped with features such as 20-inch alloy wheels, a 14-inch multimedia touchscreen with a 12-speaker JBL® audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay®, wired Android Auto™ compatibility, and more. Meanwhile, the premium version will take things up a notch with a unique grille, black-painted alloy wheels, a panoramic moonroof and luxurious interior touches like massage-function leather seats.

Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the Tundra’s launch!
