Our Top 5 Selling Toyotas in 2022!

And just like that, it’s 2023! If you’re like us and wondering where the last 12 months went, then we’re sure you’re not alone. We’ve had a big year at Sunshine Toyota, and it seems that a new Toyota was at the top of many Sunny Coaster’s wish list in 2022. Thankfully with COVID almost feeling like a thing of the past, international (and domestic) borders reopening and life seeming to get back to some kind of normal our team have been able to deliver more new Toyota’s than ever before.

So, whether you’re considering a new Toyota for yourself in 2023, or you’re just interested to know what's popular, we thought it was time to share with you our top 5 selling models of 2022! But before you read on, do you think you can guess which model came out on top?

Tied 5th Place: LandCruiser 300 VX

You might think it’s crazy that the LandCruiser 300 VX is in our top 5 but we’re honestly not surprised. The number of features you get over the GXL makes the VX a smart choice when it comes to buying a 300 series. So, here’s why we think it’s the absolute pick of the bunch.

We’re not going to go into why the new 300 series is a step above the 200 series, we’ve got a video here for that. But the 300 VX truly does add a level of luxury to your 4WD adventures. On the outside the VX gives you Bi-LED headlamps that come right off the Sahara model, these are really intelligent and very adaptive. You also get an upgraded premium finish on the alloy wheels.

But the main reasons we love the LandCruiser 300 VX are actually on the interior of the car, you now get a 12.3” premium touchscreen display, which is a huge upgrade from the GXL model. You’ll also get a premium woodgrain finish and the heated & ventilated seats (yes, they’re power adjustable) bring the VX up to a much higher level than the previous 200 VX was.

Tied 5th Place: RAV4 XSE Hybrid

Another new entrant to our line-up in 2022 was the RAV4 XSE Hybrid and what a popular choice it was! We were honestly so excited for this car to land at Sunshine Toyota and it’s clear to see why. The sporty sister to the rest of our RAV4 range not only delivers on style but also on safety and technology.

From a tech perspective, you’ll get voice-activated multi-information display, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and the latest in Toyota Safety Sense.

When it comes to style, the RAV4 XSE Hybrid is definitely the pick of the bunch! The mid-range XSE gives you stylish black accents, a 2-tone black roof and eye-catching gloss black 18 alloys. Not only that but you also get ambient blue lighting on the interior cabin with stylish synthetic leather seats with blue stitching!

Either way, it’s definitely not a surprise that the new kid on the RAV4 block has made it into our Top 5!

4th Place: LandCruiser 70 GXL

Even though Toyota has stopped taking orders on the LandCruiser 70 series, it comes as no surprise to us that the LC70 GXL was one of our top 5 sellers in 2022 and here is why...

It’s an Aussie crowd favourite, that has the power and grit for the biggest Aussie adventures with a 3.5 tonne braked towing capacity, 130 L fuel tank capacity and a 4.5L V8 turbo diesel engine. What so many love about this car is its’ rugged style and elegance. With a chrome grille, roof drip rails and bumper and 16” alloy wheels, the LC70 GXL is sure to turn some heads on your travels. The LC70 GXL is available in the Single-Cab, Double-Cab, Troop-Carrier and Wagon options.

Not only that but the LC70 is built to take on the toughest terrain with a range of dedicated 4x4 features designed so that they won’t let you down when you need them the most. And while they may not seem like the most trendy & technologically up-to-date features, things like the manual transfer case, hub locks, front & rear factory diff locks & solid front axle are designed to go off the beaten track while remaining reliable and durable while you’re off the grid.

There’s no real plot twist here. We knew the LC70 GXL would be a top contender, and when you look at the competition I’m sure you can understand why.

3rd Place: Prado GXL

Turns out that adventuring around Australia was on the cards for a lot of Sunny Coast locals in 2022, making the Prado GXL a popular choice for Toyota buyers.

2nd Place: RAV4 Cruiser Hybrid

Last year’s winner the RAV4 Cruiser Hybrid has been pipped at the post taking out 2nd place in our sales results in 2022!

It’s no surprise to see the ever-popular RAV4 Cruiser Hybrid sitting pretty in 2nd place, its total luxury and packed with tech and safety to match. Featuring a quality leather interior, stylish 18” alloys and its chiselled sporty exterior lines, this model will turn heads wherever it goes.

1st Place: Hilux SR5 4x4

We know how popular the Hilux SR5 is and apparently so do you! It’s been a fan-favourite of Toyota lovers for many years now and it’s easy to see why. The unbreakable Hilux lets you work hard during the week and play even harder on the weekend. And the SR5 model in particular has been super popular with our guests in 2022. Not only will its functionality help you get the job done, but the SR5 model is packed to the brim with incredible design and technology features that make it such a popular choice in the Hilux range.
